I found the black label to be an affordable but very enjoyable drink that I took issue with on the finish. Maybe this bottled in bond version will address what I disliked?
Paid: $23 for 750ml
Region: Kentucky
50% ABV
Mashbill: 78% corn, 12% malted barley, 10% rye
Aged For: Minimum 4 years
Cask Type: New charred oak, Char #3
Charcoal Filtered: Yes
Drank: Neat, in a glencairn
Color: Brown Copper
Nose: Dark chocolate, vanilla, oak, candy corn, and almonds make this a well rounded nose.
Taste: Vanilla banana custard is the best way I can describe what I taste. Leather, complemented by caramel, and butterscotch.
Finish: Warm and peppery with banana fudge and toffee. Lite hints of espresso.
Overall: An excellent price to punch ratio. Overall I did enjoy this one more than the black label as it is more complex with a better mouthfeel. I seem to have traded the metallic notes I detected in the black label for banana.
Score: 82/100
