Paid: $25 for 750ml
Distilled / Owned By: Walsh Distillery
Region: Ireland
40% ABV
Mashbill: 70% single malt from column still, 30% single pot still
Aged For: NAS
Cask Type: Ex-bourbon
Chill Filtered: Yes
Drank: Neat, in a glencairn
Color: Bronzed Gold
Nose: Rich barely and crisp apples. Cherry and honey.
Taste: The apple follows through, extremely sweet, almost like sucking on a jolly rancher with notes of watermelon. Vanilla oak hits the palate next to tone down the sweetness.
Finish: Finishes with a light smoke and caramel apples and hints of vanilla. Good length.
Overall: The best Irish Whiskey hands down for its price point. Don’t go in with the expectation of a complex dram, but rather a fruity smooth triple distilled drink and you will greatly appreciate this one.
