Nose: Peat, mossy rocks. Morning dew in a forest. Very light chocolate. Leather.
Taste: Gentle smoke and background peat. Coffee bean and walnut with a light vanilla oakiness. Brine and iodine.
Finish: The smoke now increases and is followed by honey and hints of heathery tar.
Overall: Based on the Islay’s I have tried this indeed is the one least likely to punch you in the face with its peat. The high proof gives it a good oily mouthfeel to go with the relative smoothness that I enjoyed.
