Drank: Neat, in a glencairn
Nose: Strong malt and yeast, salty and nutty. A touch of lemon and smokey peat. The slightest hint of sherry.
Taste: Funky and earthy. Thick and chewy. Spice, cinnamon, and fruity caramel. Gentle smoke throughout. Almost has a nutty property that reminds me of Jim Beam products.
Finish: Warm and lasting. Dry with the sherry showing more influence. Chili pepper and salty sea air.
Thoughts: I can certainly see what people mean by campletown funk now. I’ll have to try another springbank, but I don’t know if it is to my palate yet. Certainly a unique offering and I can see why it has so many fans.
