I wasn’t too thrilled with the 12 year offering, the flavors didn’t pull me through, but I was promised the potential was there in the 18 so I decided to give it a try. Sets itself apart from most Islays by not being peated. I believe they use a combination of bourbon and sherry casks.

Nose: Rich caramel, chocolate, figs, raisin, vanilla, and soft fruit.
Taste: Heavy toffee, coffee, vanilla, chocolate, citrus and sherry.
Finish: Lingering warmth with oak and pepper. A pinch of salt and baking spice blend with sherry.
Thoughts: A huge step up from the 12 year expression. A good balance of fruit and caramel.
