Distilled/Owned by: Glendronach / Brown-Forman
Aged For: NAS
Mashbill: 100% malted barley
Cask Type: PX and Oloroso sherry
Chill Filtered: No
Color Added: No
Color: Rich Dark Copper
Drank: Neat, in a glencairn
Nose: Caramel, thick sherry, coffee, raisins, citrus, oak, and strong alcohol.
Taste: The sherry becomes even more pronounced, the raisins, jam, dark chocolate, maple syrup, and white pepper.
Finish: Very warm, lasting with impressions of fruit, vanilla, orange peel, and ginger.
Thoughts: Another solid offering from Glendro. I still find the 18 to be my favorite, due to its combination of full bodied flavor and complexity, but I wasn’t able to experiment with water on this sample, so I’ll have to open another one up in the future and see how that changes things.
