The ages in the blend range from 5 to 19 years but I would assume lean more towards the 5 year.
Price: $60 for 750ml
Distilled/Owned by: MGP & Barton / High West
Aged For: Minimum 5 Years
Mashbill: MGP: 95% rye, 5% malted barley; Barton: 80% rye, 10% corn, 10% malted barley
Cask Type: New charred oak
Chill Filtered: No
Color Added: No
Drank: Neat, in a glencairn
Nose: Cinnamon, vanilla, mint, brown sugar, and orange rind.
Taste: More cinnamon, mint and vanilla follow from the nose to the palate. Hints of dark chocolate and light bodied tobacco.
Finish: Medium warmth with a linger of molasses, rye, mint and new oak.
Thoughts: A solid all around rye, spicy and hits all the right notes, but at its price point I prefer Pikesville. Would gladly buy more if I found it on sale and would love to try some on the barrel finishes I’ve heard about.
Score: 84 out of 100
