Price: $25 for 750ml
Distilled/Owned by: Jim Beam / Beam Suntory
Mashbill: 77% corn, 13% rye, 10% barley
Aged For: Minimum 6 years
Cask Type: New charred oak, Char #4, extracted from the wood of the barrels as well
Chill Filtered: Yes
Color: Light copper
Drank: Neat, in a glencairn.
Nose: Cinnamon, vanilla, lots of spice and a bit of pepper. Oak char, peanut butter.
Palate/Taste: Caramel, vanilla, with cinnamon, nutmeg, and leather. Hint of rye, heavy charcoal.
Finish: Warm, with cinnamon, clove, and a metallic twinge.
Thoughts: Better than regular Beam, but the extra oaky bourbon extracted from the wood isn’t enough to push this over the edge.
Score: 74 out of 100
