Paid: $23 for 750ml
Distilled/Owned by: Heaven Hill
Region: Kentucky
50% ABV
Mashbill: 51% rye, 37% corn, 12% malted barley
Aged For: Minimum 4 years
Cask Type: New charred oak, Char #3
Chill Filtered: Yes
Color: Dark Copper
Drank: Neat, in a glencairn.
Nose: Cinnamon, vanilla, oak, chocolate, rye, and cloves. Sweet (Can tell it’s a barley legal rye)
Mouthfeel: Thick
Palate/Taste: Vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, you can tell that it’s a more youthful Pikesville, pepper and herbs.
Finish: Medium warmth and good length with lingering cinnamon and cloves.
Thoughts: Probably my favorite of the budget ryes, spicier than your average bourbon, but still has a good rye tinge.
Score: 83 out of 100
