George T. Stagg 2017

Stagg 2017

These notes were actually from a blind tasting before I was able to purchase my own bottle, solidifying my love of the stagg!

Paid: $90 for 750ml

Distilled/Owned by: Buffalo Trace / Sazerac

Region: Kentucky

64.6 %ABV

Mashbill: Buffalo Trace mashbill #1

Aged for: 15 Years

Cask Type: New charred oak, Char #4

Chill Filtered: No

Color: Burnt Chestnut

Drank: Neat, in a glencairn

Nose: Rich caramel, and brown sugar, vanilla, brownie batter, slight alcohol burn, sweet corn

Feel: Dry and full bodied

Taste: Leathery chocolate, clove, tobacco, caramel coffee, peppercorns, cinnamon, and heavy oak.

Finish: Long and warm, rich oak and brown sugar espresso, tannins and drying as it continues.

Thoughts: Still my favorite bourbon line, has a punch and flavor rarely matched.

Score: 90 out of 100
