Paid: $115 for 750ml
Distilled/Owned by: Springbank
Region: Campbeltown
58% ABV
Mashbill: 100% malted barley
Aged For: 9 Years
Cask Type: Sauternes (I think first fill)
Chill Filtered: No
Color Added: No
Color: Golden Copper
Drank: Neat, in a glencairn.
Nose: Lime and citrus, salted raspberries, tangy, peat, ginger, and pineapple.
Mouthfeel: Medium bodied
Palate/Taste: Toffee, peat, apples, citrus, cinnamon, sour funk, earthy.
Finish: Medium warmth and long finish, chili peppers, leather, tangy smoke, funk, and sour grapes.
Thoughts: It’s got a sour citrus tang going on that’s truly unique and tasty. Not something I’d reach for every day, but still great. Slightly overpriced here in the U.S. but I support Springbank’s methods and transparency enough to swallow the cost.
Score: 86 out of 100
