Paid: $110 for 750ml
Distilled/Owned by: Dalmore / Alexander Murray
Aged For: 15 Years
Mashbill: 100% malted barley
Cask Type: Ex-bourbon, Oloroso, and married in sherry butts
Chill Filtered: No
Color Added: No
Color: Tarnished gold
Drank: Neat, in a glencairn
Nose: Honey, young malt (on a 15 year?), oak, dry sherry, orchard fruit, vanilla, and herbal after scent
Feel: Medium body
Taste: Dry spice, sour herbs, young craft whiskey taste, caramel, oloroso sherry, nuts
Finish: Almost rye like, with a herbal overtone, pepper and toasted oak with a good warmth and lasting finish.
Thoughts: After enjoying a few Dalmore IB’s I had higher hopes for this but it constantly reminded me of a young craft rye aged in sherry casks. I guess that’s the risk you run with IBs, as this is way off profile for any type of Dalmore.
