Review: Domaine de Baraillon 33-Year 1984

Paid: $140 for 750ml

Distilled/Owned by: Domaine de Baraillon

Region: Bas Armagnac

46% ABV

Aged For: 33 Years, distilled 1984 bottled 2017

Color: Auburn

Drank: Neat, in a glencairn

Nose: Grape jam, fresh, citrus, port soaked oak, dried fruits, vanilla, blackberry

Mouthfeel: Medium to full, spicy, tart

Palate/Taste: Sherry wine, oak, citrus, leather, vanilla, and a touch of ginger

Finish: Warm and medium length, apricot jelly, pastry, musty grape, wood shavings, tobacco, and leather

Thoughts: This sits at a nice midpoint between oak heavy yaks, and still displaying fruit. Gets sweeter overtime and does benefit from adding a drop of water.

Score: 84 out of 100
