Price: $80 for 750ml
Distilled / Owned By: Yamazaki / Beam Suntory
Aged For: 12 years
Mashbill: 100% malted barley
Cask Type: American, Spanish, and Japanese oak
Chill Filtered: No
Color Added: No
Drank: Neat, in a glencairn
Color: Light Marigold
Nose: Very malty and a lot of cereal sugars here. Barley, honey, and a bit of peach.
Taste: Smooth butter and oats. Japanese oak, and white chocolate.
Finish: Short, no bite at all. Walnut and banana aftertaste.
Overall: I hear a lot about how fruity this is, but to me malt and cereal grain are the predominate notes. Too smooth for my preference and very simple. Reminds me of Irish Whiskey more than Scotch. Not bad, but very overrated.
Score: 79 out of 100
