Black Velvet

Black Velvet

Got this as a Christmas gift from my father in law. I appreciate the sentiment but I wound up pouring most of this out. He did give me some Evan Williams in the same gift which made up for it.

Price: $12 for 750ml

Distilled / Owned By: Black Velvet/ Constellation Brands

Region: Canada

40% ABV

Mashbill: Undisclosed

Aged For: Minimum 2 Years

Chill Filtered: Yes

Color Added: Undisclosed

Drank: Neat, in a glencairn

Color: Food coloring brown

Nose: Way to much ethanol, rye eventually comes through with some oak

Taste: Smooth to the namesake, but very bland. Bits of carmel and rye but not nearly enough.

Finish: Bites the tongue hard and then disappears quickly.

Overall: It was gift and I gave it a fair shot I feel, but I’m not a fan.

Score: 45 out of 100
