40% ABV

Distillate: Molasses & sugarcane honey

Aged For: NAS (up to 12 years)

Cask Type: Ex-bourbon

Still Type: Copper pot-still

Chill Filtered: Yes

Additives used: Yes

Color: Mahogany

Drank: Neat, in a glencairn.

Nose: Rich molasses and brown sugar, chocolate and raisins, very sweet

Mouthfeel: Light bodied, syrupy

Palate/Taste: Vanilla, muscavado sugar, maple syrup, banana, and caramel

Finish: Shorter, little warmth, fruit flavors and brown sugar with a slight artificial sweetened note.

Thoughts: If very sweet rum is your thing, this is very easy to sip as a dessert. The overt sweetness may turn off hardcore rum fans who prefer rum without added sweetener. That said it’s still much better than the dozens of bottles of Bacardi and Captain Morgan on the average store and bar shelf.

Score: 80 out of 100
