I really enjoyed the standard Hedonism expression so when I had the chance to try this I couldn’t turn it down. It’s a blend of 5 Grain whiskeys aged for at least 32 years. This was bottled for the 15th year anniversary in 2015.
Price: Discontinued
Distilled/Owned by: According to the specs on their website, sourced from Loch Lomond and other distilleries.
Region: Scotland
46% ABV
Mashbill: Blend of grain whiskies
Cask Type: Undisclosed, likely ex-bourbon and refill hogsheads
Aged For: 32 Years Minimum
Chill Filtered: No
Color Added: No
Drank: Neat, in a glencairn
Color: Pale Gold
Nose: Strong vanilla comes off this, sponge cake, confectionary sugar, oats, caramel and bourbon oak.
Taste: Light, yet oily and chewy, perhaps creamy is the right way to put it? Vanilla bean, powdered sugar, coconut, honey, and milk chocolate.
Finish: Much longer and warmer than the regular hedonism, again sugary sweet vanilla dominates. Faint bits of coconut, chocolate chip cookies, honey and barley.
Thoughts: Improves on the finish of the regular hedonism, and is also a vanilla bomb. However a bit of the subtleties have been lost with the overpowering vanilla sugar sweetness, like a bit of the fruit I detected in the regular expression.
Score: 88 out of 100
