Color: Amber

Drank: Neat, in a glencairn

Nose: Graham crackers, honey, malt, stewed fruits, copper, vanilla

Feel: Rich and oily

Taste: Vanilla and graham crackers with honey, spices, with a bit of oak and leche

Finish: Medium warmth and length, honey, vanilla, grass, and oily pastries with powdered sugar.

Thoughts: The best quality to price Irish whiskey hands down, it throws off all of the restrictions that prevent most Irish whiskies from truly shining and is all the better for it.

Score: 86 out of 100

Color: Pale gold

Drank: Neat, in a glencairn.

Nose: Pears, white wine, malt, honey. Very airy and light.

Mouthfeel: Light bodied

Palate/Taste: Grapes and cinnamon, wet oak, and sugary barley, floral

Finish: Gentle warmth and medium length, fruity, gentle oak with bits of caramel

Thoughts: Light and fruity would be the words that come to mind, a step up above Jameson and the like, but I actually preferred the single grain Teeling a touch more.

Score: 77 out of 100

Color: Straw

Drank: Neat, in a glencairn.

Nose: Airy, slightly floral, with oak, and bits of honey

Mouthfeel: Medium body

Palate/Taste: Buttery, with white wine, apples, floral, and hints of dried fruit.

Finish: Raspberry and vanilla with a medium warmth and length

Thoughts: Surprisingly fruity for a single grain whiskey, but the cabernet casks are to thank for that. The lack of a nose really impacts the score with this one.

Score: 78 out of 100

Mouthfeel: Oily, medium body

Palate/Taste: Malty, with honey, cream, oak, vanilla, and again a touch of earth.

Finish: Medium warmth and length, with oak, vanilla, and bits of apple and pastry.

Thoughts: One of the more flavorful Irish whiskeys out there, but for less than the cost of this I’d say the 12 cask strength is the better buy.

Mouthfeel: Thin, watery

Palate/Taste: Slight sugary sweetness, vanilla, white chocolate
